Caliana VMS Backoffice (Visitor Management System Revamp)
Overview
Caliana VMS Backoffice is the back-office platform of Caliana VMS, the visitor management product by PT Data Nusantara Adhikarya. Caliana maintains two distinct products: VMS (Visitor Management System) and ACS (Access Control System). This project is a revamp of the VMS back-office, built with Next.js 13 (Pages Router) and React 18 on a Backend-for-Frontend architecture, where each page calls a thin Next.js API route that proxies to internal microservices. The revamp centered on three areas. First, the Visitor page was extended with additional data columns, giving operators richer visitor information directly in the table and its data exports. Second, the visitor registration form app was redesigned for a cleaner, more consistent registration experience, including its configurable form builder. Third, visitor registration and check-in were integrated with Caliana ACS, so a visitor can be enrolled and granted physical access on HIKVision devices at check-in — through face, card, QR, fingerprint, and PIN credentials, with door access assignment and real-time access events. Alongside the revamp, the platform implements granular role-based access control with feature and plan entitlement gating enforced both in middleware and on the client, bilingual UI (English/Indonesian) via i18next, Firebase Analytics, and Excel/PDF reporting, deployed under PM2.
